The Production and Filmmaking Technique
courses are designed as building blocks to develop a
student’s career in filmmaking. Each technique
course includes hands-on projects that advance with
each class module. Whether a student is new to filmmaking
or comes with previous experience, the Filmmaking Technique
courses will help them develop their professional skills.
Programs
are developed, evaluated, and taught by certified teachers
and professionals in the field. Certificate students
also find valuable opportunities to network with instructors,
classmates and other professionals.
Listed below are the courses we offer and a brief course outline:
Stop Motion & 3D Animation
Students enrolled in this twelve-week course will create stop motion animation short films using modeling clay and various other elements. Students will also be introduced to 3D computer animation using Lightwave 3D. During the course the student will develop a script, models, backgrounds, and use any other props needed for the production. Students will also learn the basics of editing and sound mixing to create a finished DVD of their short films.
ADOBE After Effects
Students enrolled in this twelve-week course will work with After Effects, a software based special effects program. After Effects is used in many areas of production for finishing and to composite effects with video. This class will also introduce students to the basics of Photoshop.
AVID Editing & Certification
This editing course will take the students through the Avid editing curriculum and courseware developed by Avid. This program is designed to educate the student in non linear editing using the Avid software and hardware used in professional studios. Students completing this course will become certified users of the Avid Editing Software.
Final Cut Pro Editing
Using Apple's Final Cut Pro, students will learn the process from capture to output to mastering a DVD. This course will cover learning the FCP interface, tools, effects and compositing techniques used in various movies and television shows. Students will also be introduced to Soundtrack Pro and Live Type in this course.
Production Technique 1
This
twelve week after school program is designed as an introductory course
preparing students to become proficient in various areas
of production. Students will work on writing, shooting,
directing and editing their own projects while participating
as crew members on other students’ projects.

Production
Technique 2
This
course is a continuation of Filmmaking Technique 1 and
builds on the skills learned in that course. Students
will continue writing, shooting, directing and editing
their own work while experiencing new and exciting areas
of production.

Production
Technique 3
Continuing
with the filmmaking education process, students are
now introduced to advanced techniques. In this third
module, students are emerged in the filmmaking process
while refining skills for writing, shooting, directing
and editing.

Production
Technique 4
Continuing
to build on previous skills, this course offers advanced
filmmaking techniques that will prepare a student to
create a short film for distribution. Students will
write, shoot and direct a short film on a format of
their choice.

Advanced
Filmmaking Technique 1
This
course is designed for advanced filmmaking students
that have completed Filmmaking Technique 4 or equivalent
training at another institution. This course is a twelve
week course that focuses on developing skills needed
to create an independent short or feature film for distribution.

Advanced
Filmmaking Technique 2

course is a continuation for the advanced filmmaking
students that have completed Advanced Filmmaking Technique
1. This course is a twelve week course that focuses
on the post production process, completion and distribution
of the student’s film.
